Then and Now: Creating Music in the Moment, a friendly workshop for all horn players, any level
Presenter: Lin Foulk
After enjoying 25 years of traditional horn performance and study, Dr. Lin Foulk took a 16-month sabbatical leave in 2013-14 to study classical music improvisation. As a result she has developed a unique approach to teach other classical musicians to play without notated music in a highly accessible, encouraging, and fun classroom environment.
At IHS LA, she will co-present a 60-minute session along with WMU horn students who took “Classical Music Improvisation,” a class that Dr. Foulk offered at WMU in fall 2014. All IHSLA session participants will be led to play improvisations in both large and small ensembles through specific, pre-tested activities using their horn, voice, body percussion, or basic percussion instruments provided by Dr. Foulk.
WMU horn students Nicole Vanden Bosch, Kirstie Keill, Jennifer Kempe, and Jeremy Larson will help co-present this session.
